Condemning the suspension of BRS MLA G Jagadeeswar Reddy from the Assembly for the entire Budget Session, the BRS has called for a statewide protest on Friday. BRS Working President KT Rama Rao termed the suspension of the Suryapet MLA as an outrageous act that undermines democratic values on the basis of baseless allegations and without giving any chance for explanation.
KTR accused the Congress government of suspending the BRS MLA on fabricated grounds, claiming that words he never said were attributed to him. “The Congress is trying to suppress the voice of the BRS because they fear that the party’s presence in the Budget session will bring to the fore issues of contracts, commissions and transfer of funds to Delhi,” he alleged. Protesting the suspension, KTR along with BRS MLAs and MLCs staged a demonstration in front of the 125-foot-high Ambedkar statue and announced protest programmes in all constituencies on Friday. KTR said Jagadeeswar Reddy was deliberately targeted and suspended as part of a conspiracy while he was exposing the lies and half-truths in the Governor's address to the joint session of the Assembly and Legislative Council.
He said Jagadeeswar Reddy maintained his composure despite Congress ministers and MLAs interrupting him through ongoing remarks. The former minister was raising important issues like wilting crops, decline of agriculture, difficulties of farmers, stalled loan waiver, delay in Raitu Bharosa payments, non-implementation of six guarantees and betrayal of 420 promises.
Unable to counter these criticisms, the government resorted to unethical and shameless tactics by suspending him, KTR alleged. KTR said Jagadeeswar Reddy expressed his anguish before the Speaker and appealed to protect the rights of opposition leaders. He treated the Speaker as a father figure and did not disrespect him in any way. For more updates and news, you can visit Vaartha's ePaper.
