Also pointing to cross-border coordination with Afghanistan-based handlers, Khan said, "India has been involved in terrorism in Pakistan. The terrorists in the particular attack on the Jaffar Express were in touch with their handlers and masterminds in Afghanistan." Responding to media queries on the comments made by Pakistan, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We strongly reject the baseless allegations leveled by Pakistan. The whole world knows where the epicentre of global terrorism is. Pakistan should look within itself instead of pointing fingers and blaming others for its internal problems and failures."
Militants who took over a train in Pakistan's Balochistan killed 21 passengers and four paramilitary personnel. The Baloch Liberation Army, an outlawed group behind several deadly attacks in recent months, claimed responsibility for the attack that began on Tuesday and ended on Wednesday, when troops killed all 33 insurgents in an operation. The army said no other passengers were killed in the operation. The train was travelling from Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, to the northern city of Peshawar when insurgents blew up the track, leaving nine coaches and the engine of the Jaffar Express train partially stranded inside a tunnel.
